Standards

• Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) - First social media platforms can help to raise awareness and engage families to build a literacy culture and promote ARI goals. They can also be used to share videos of students reading and engaging in ARI activities. Social media helps to build community around literacy, inform parents and promote growth. The use of online PD platforms can be used such as LETRS, Canvas, and Alabama Achieves. Instructional technology is also utilized to strengthen student reading skills with digital tools aligned to ARI. 
• Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) - AMSTI can be improved significantly through technology and media. These tools can improve teaching, expand resources, and keep the students engaged. First you can use virtual labs or experiments that allow students to explore science and math safely. There are many educational YouTube channels such as Nat Geo kids, SciShow Kids and many more that enhance student understanding. Teachers can use social media to share resources and instructional video for more student success. 
• Alabama Learning Exchange (ALEX) - Technology makes ALEX resources more accessible and engaging using media. There are outlets such as YouTube or Vimeo where instructional videos or demos can be uploaded to show educators how to use materials and integrate them into their teaching. Apps like Instagram and twitter can be used by educators to highlight success stories of educators who have successfully integrated ALEX into their teaching. This can help motivate teachers to try new strategies and showcase them.
• Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators and Students Statewide (ACCESS) - With ACCESS being known to create an educational environment by providing access to online learning. The use of technology and media are huge benefits for it. The use of Zoom, Google meet, and Microsoft teams give teacher the opportunity to collaborate on lessons and support each other in real time. The use of learning apps will be used to greatly improve student engagement and learning. Those learning apps are Kahoot, Ed puzzle, Quizlet, they all make learning fun and engaging through quizzes, videos, and game like content.
• RTI (Response to Instruction) - The most widely known technology used within RTI is I-ready, and Ed puzzle. The use of auditory and visual tools enhances student learning, especially for those that may struggle more than others. The use of social media keeps families informed and may encourage them to collaborate at home. Online PD Platforms such as Alabama Achieves PD, canvas, etc. are all important for equipping teachers and giving them the skills to implement effective instruction.
